Final 2010 results for US beef and pork exports are outstanding, relays the US Meat Export Federation. Beef exports set a new single-year value of $4.08 billion, breaking the pre-bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) record of $3.86 billion in 2003 and topping the 2009 total by nearly $1 billion.

Net income at Cargill in the second quarter ended Nov. 30 totaled $1.49 billion, up sharply from $489 million in the same period a year ago. In the first six months ended Nov. 30, the company earned $2.37 billion, up 135% from $1.01 billion in last year’s first half.
